Briton Tony King, could not have acted alone

Mother of Rocio Wanninkhof, the youngster from Mijas Costa who was murdered in October 1999, has called for a new court case because she thinks that the man found guilty of killing of her daughter, the Briton Tony King, could not have acted alone.
The family lawyer has made an application to the Málaga Provincial Court to re-open the case, basing his arguments on the evidence from the case in which King was found guilty. King was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the case, but the Wanninkhof family considers that two people would have been needed to carry out the crime and move the body. Lawyer Marcos García-Montes explained that they were not looking for new evidence, only to determine once and for all their ‘single obsession’ if Dolores Vázquez took part in the crime or not.She is the woman who was a family friend, and had a lesbian relationship with Rocio’s mother and who was initially found guilty of the murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2001. Later that verdict was deemed as unsafe and overturned by the Andalucian High Court.

The 16-year-old vanished from Mijas Costa, in Spain, on January 1 after telling friends she was going to walk home. Amy had been at a friend’s home in the tourist resort of Riviera del Sol, on the Costa del Sol, when she went missing. Mum Audrey Fitzpatrick met with Mr Cowen last week and said the Irish ruler had promised to “do all within his power to help find Amy”.
She said: "Basically he's the boss of the country. He has more contacts than us and more contacts with people who speak Spanish. I'm sure he will do what he can."
Spanish cops issued an appeal for information about a white Ford Fiesta with a UK number plate owned by a family friend, which went missing at the same time as Amy.
A government spokesman in the region said it was “difficult” to believe the youngster left voluntarily. Police are now looking for a second car connected to the case, although no description has yet been released. There has been no sign of Amy despite extensive searches in the region. She has black hair, is 1.65m tall and was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a Diesel T-shirt when she was last seen.

Four of the six injured in the accident caused by the collapse of a pedestrian bridge over the A7 motorway in Mijas Costa on Monday afternoon have been allowed home from hospital, while the two men who were in the first car which was crushed by the falling bridge remain in a serious but stable condition in the Costa del Sol hospital in Marbella.
The men aged 44 and 30 had to be rescued from the remains of their crushed vehicle by fire-crews. One has suffered head, abdomen and neck injuries, the other facial and head injuries.
The bridge came down when a crane got caught underneath it, and the blocked A7 motorway caused traffic chaos for the rest of the evening, not least because a breakdown in communications led to a delay in the opening of the toll motorway to all traffic amid several scenes of road rage from frustrated drivers.The company which has the toll concession has meanwhile been warned by the Ministry for Development following their taking an hour to obey a Ministry instruction and lift the tolls following the accident on Monday. The company was ordered to lift charges at 1850 but it was not until an hour later that the barriers were lifted, causing serious delays to thousands of travellers.

Udyco sources indicate that the hashish was hidden in the bottom of containers in which the man's company, located in an industrial park in Mijas Costa, shipped high-voltage batteries to Great Britain via France. Police first became suspicious of the man's company when they noticed that, although there was little activity in the Mijas warehouse, the company made periodic shipments to France, which were then sent on to Britain through an international transport company. The Udyco team intercepted one of the shipments and found 700 kilos of hashish hidden in the bottom of the container. The police also seized two stolen vehicles they believe were used to transport the drugs to the Mijas warehouse. One of the vehicles still contained the sacks in which the hashish was brought to Spain from Morocco. The police will continue their investigation, in collaboration with Interpol and Europol, in an effort to identify additional members of the crime network involved in the drug shipments. They believe the group may also have been involved in illegal trafficking of heavy vehicles.

Amy Fitzpatrick mother spent the eve of her daughter's 16th birthday yesterday being interviewed by police over an alleged assault.

Local newspapers reported yesterday that Mrs Fitzpatrick refused to turn the music down -- and allegedly struck out following a row, after telling the neighbour the song she was listening to was one of daughter Amy's favourites.
Guardia Civil called Audrey Fitzpatrick (36) in for questioning after a neighbour claimed she had been attacked for complaining about loud music coming from the Costa del Sol home .
The incident is said to have happened last Friday afternoon. Mrs Fitzpatrick was asked to attend a police station in Mijas yesterday as she made preparations to mark her daughter's 16th birthday.
A Spanish police spokesman said: "A neighbour has reported Amy's mother to police. After police have interviewed her, a report will be passed to a judge who will decide what course of action to take.
"I have not been told the nature of the complaint that has been made."
Family spokesman Franco Rey said: "Audrey has been to the police station to answer the neighbour's complaint. She made an official statement to them. There's no other comment we'll be making at this time."
Mrs Fitzpatrick has come under increasing stress since her daughter went missing on New Year's Day.
She was last seen leaving friend Ashley Rubio Rose's home near her own in the popular expat resort of Riviera del Sol around 10pm. Last night Mr Rey said that although Amy's older brother Dean (17) had organised tonight's party, their mother was unlikely to go.
"She's very upset because her only daughter will be turning 16 and she isn't here. She had been thinking of having a party for her and at the moment she is very, very, very upset."
Mrs Fitzpatrick recently travelled to the Costa Blanca on Spain's east coast to publicise her daughter's disappearance. She has also travelled to the British colony of Gibraltar with Amy's stepdad to put up pictures of Amy.
Earlier this week, Dave Mahon returned from a trip to the Moroccan port of Tangiers to hand out posters with Amy's picture on them.
