15-Year Old Girl Dies on Park Ride “El Pendulo” in Spain (VIDEO): "15-year-old girl has died on Tibidabo amusement park in Barcelona, Spain. She was riding a park attraction called “El Pendulo” when the handle of the ride broke off in midair. The accident also left two people injured who were hospitalized; a young boy also suffered injuries, but since they weren’t serious he wasn’t hospitalized.

Sara Jaurriete, director of the park explained the accident:
” the mechanical arm of El Pendulo (The Pendulum) broke and the basket carrying the teens fell on top of the ride known as “The Golden Mine.”
This park ride has been working without problems over the last 4 years, but I guess there is always a risk in them. Anyway, the park will have to deal with the responsibility on the death of such a young girl. I also imagine people will not be attending the park in fears of another accident.
Parks always need to have routine check-ups and maintenance of all the rides to avoid accidents like this one. Investigations are underway to determine if this accident was the result of negligence."
