Landscape gardener from Yarm on Teesside was on the last day of his brother James' stag do yesterday when the horrific accident happened.
A bull, which did not have protective padding on its horns, ran past Daniel before turning its head back and rammed its horns into his groin.
The bull then flung Daniel into the air.
His mother Jackie, who is a Stockton councillor, said Daniel is now recovering in a Spanish hospital.
She added: 'I have been worried sick and so has Daniel's girlfriend Sophie.
'It happened in the morning.
'They had been in Barcelona for most of the week then were spending the last couple of days at the festival.
'James said the bull had ran past Daniel when it happened but then turned back. It sounds absolutely horrible.
'James saw the whole thing happen and said he felt completely helpless.
'Daniel said the pain was just terrible. He is well now but is still recovering.'
Daniel was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Mrs Earl said: 'James told me he was not allowed through to see how he was.
'They stitched up his wound there in the street so we were worried he might have got an infection or something.'
Doctors have said Daniel cannot fly home for several days due to the severity of his injury.
Mrs Earl said: 'We just want to get him home now and into an English hospital.
