Miguel Carcaño still claims he has no idea where Marta's body was dumped: "The self-confessed killer of the 17 year old girl who disappeared in Seville two years ago, Marta del Castillo, has claimed that he has no idea where the teenager’s body is, blaming two of the others charged with her disappearance of dumping it.
Miguel Carcaño told a court in Seville that it was his friend, Samuel Benítez, and the juvenile known as El Cuco, Javier G.M., who disposed of Marta’s body. Carcaño said he stayed behind in the flat on Calle León XIII cleaning up the scene of the crime.
Sources quoted by Europa Press indicate that the accused confirmed his last version of the events to police, that he killed Marta by hitting her on the head with an ashtray, but did not rape her.
The EFE news agency indicates that he claimed to have invented the rape to avoid being tried by a jury. The Andalucía High Court of Justice recently decided that the trial would be taken by a panel of professional judges, which meant that part of the proceedings would have to be repeated. For that reason, the four adults charged in the case were brought before the instruction judge on Tuesday."
